Today, the topic of the class was cryonics. In the course of this discussion, the book mentioned the problem of ischemic brain damage - when you die, your heart stops pumping oxygen-rich blood, which causes brain damage before you can be frozen. I informed the kids that even being deprived of oxygen for four or five minutes can result in brain damage.
At this point, one of my denser students began holding his breath.
So for those of you who doubt Charles Darwin, I ask you this: is this not a clear example of natural selection?
