Lisa and I play in a weekly 6-a-side soccer game at the local park. The game is usually between a team of foreigners and a Korean team. Korean recreational soccer teams LOVE their uniforms. The guys we play against have full Barcelona kits, including shirt, shorts, and even socks. Other teams are decked out like Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.
Given the Park Ji-Sung connection, Man U is unsurprisingly the most popular. However, Spain jerseys are almost as common, probably because of their EURO 2008 victory. Curiously, I've seen Spain jerseys featuring a bizarrely high number of players who aren't actually Spanish. These include Robinho and Ronaldinho (both Brazilian), and even Steven Gerrard (English). However, I did spot the Spanish player Cesc Fabregas' name on a jersey . . . for Portugal.
I'm thinking of introducing some geography and demography into my lesson.
