Today, I was trying to explain the "bandwagon" logical fallacy to my elementary school kids. The book defines this fallacy as arguing that because an opinion is shared by the majority, the opinion is correct. To illustrate, I told them that it's like saying SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong" is a great song just because it's popular. They agreed, on the whole, that this is a misguided opinion. One student exclaimed that the song "sucks."
Another girl went a bit too far. "Teacher," she said. "I think they are, like, gays."
I explained that this is NOT the preferred nomenclature.
