I Believe The Children Are Our Future

Today, I asked some of my kids what they want to be when they grow up. It started promisingly, with such reasonable answers as chef, scientist, fashion designer, and teacher. Then it went downhill. One student advised me that he wishes to remain unemployed. Another aspires to be a pirate; I suggested he may want to book a flight to Somalia. I had the unenviable task of shattering a young man's dream of moving to America to be a gangsta rapper with 2Pac, as Mr. Shakur is no longer with us. Finally, one student, who had clearly consulted his Korean-English dictionary, spelled out his answer: "F-R-A-U-D." I advised him that the technical term for his chosen profession was "scam artist."

So if you see an e-mail about a wealthy South Korean diplomat who has died, leaving no heirs and millions of dollars in the bank, it may well be from one of my students.

All my spare cash is tied up in a very lucrative investment with some distinguished Nigerian gentlemen, so count me out. When it hits, I'll be on the gravy train with biscuit wheels.

I look forward to seeing you on the next Dateline Internet fraud special. Yes, Chris Hansen has branched out.
