Flattery Will Get You Everywhere

In preparation for the big level-up test next week, I was practicing a speaking activity with my kids. Basically, they receive a question (What is your favorite season and why? What country would you like to visit and why?), they prepare for 15 seconds, then respond for 45 seconds. This tests their ability to string supporting details together, form topic sentences and conclusions, etc. After giving them a few soft questions, I hit them with a curve ball: "Who is the best teacher here, and why?"

Two of six kids answered Lon and were immediately ejected from the classroom. The other four voted for yours truly. Here are some of the reasons they gave:

- His outlines are good.
- He speaks well.
- His handwriting is good.
- I've had him a lot.
- He likes soccer.
- He makes bad students participate.
- I don't know any other teachers.
- He's standing in front of me.
