After waking up quite late courtesy of a hang-over (see previous entry), Max and I met up with Jacob and Hanna for a lunch of Korean BBQ. Max began to appreciate how cheap Korean food is. The BBQ was delicious and at only 8,000 won a person, was probably half the price of a similar meal in the states. Max returned to the apartment for a nap, while I headed to work.
After work we went out with James N., Lon, Lisa, Kate, and Jacob for beef stew. Sounds simple, but this was actually a dish I hadn't had before. It was quite tasty. Jacob left and the rest of us headed to the Timeworld area, our usual party district. Our first stop was Lucky Strike, home of the take-out Long Island Ice Tea (either the best or the worst idea ever; I'm undecided). We decided to modify the order slightly and took our plastic cup-clad Long Beaches to a nearby arcade. Activities included pop-a-shot basketball, which Lon dominated, and batting cages. Much like the take-out drinks, I think voluntarily having hard spheres flung at you after you've been drinking must be unique to Korea. They also had a shooting gallery, and as lifetime Yankees, Max and I made sure to rub it in when we bested Dixie resident James N. The girls took photo booth pictures and altered them, while I spent 1,000 won on a drumming game only to fail within 10 seconds.
At this point Lon, Lisa, and James wisely called it a night, while Kate, Max and I unwisely headed to a bar called Sponge to play some darts. Why was this unwise? Sponge happens to be right above a Noraebang, Korea's answer to Karaoke. We got our own private room for the paltry sum of 15,000 won. Within minutes, Max had located the highlight of the English-language song catalogue, the Andy Samberg/Justin Timberlake classic "D*** in a Box." Why a Korean Noraebang had this song, I'll never know, but Max and I rocked it. (Video DOES exist, but Max has heretofore refused permission to post it.) Other highlights included my go-to song "It Had to be You" and Max and Kate's rendition of "Lovefool" by the Cardigans.
After a very late night, we too headed home.
