In one of my classes, there's a nifty little activity where the students look at a comic strip and write a dialogue to go with it. Last week the topic was Alexander the Great, so the kids were tasked with writing a conversation between two of his exhausted soldiers debating whether to head home or press on past India. One of my students authored a very well-written piece. However, when one of the soldiers is informed of Alexander's desire to reach the end of the world, he blurts out, "Oh Jesus!"
I took this opportunity to teach the kids the word "anachronistic."
