Brenda's birthday was the 30th of November, and my parents kindly offered to buy her a birthday present. Since shipping costs are likely to be impractical they said she should just buy something over here and they will reimburse us. Being that it's winter, Brenda thought a sweater would be a good gift.
This sounds straightforward, but we were up against two problems. One, Brenda is allergic to wool. As soon as she touches it she starts itching. That rules out a good percentage of the world's warm clothing.
Two, Brenda has never had the heroin-chic body. As far as I'm concerned this is a good thing, but as far as South Korea is concerned, this is NOT a good thing. We managed to search all the clothing stores in the local mall and find exactly one store (Calvin Klein) that had any sweaters in a size medium. Due to the vicissitudes of women's clothing those didn't quite fit, and a large was out of the question. I guess we'll try another mall in the future but Brenda was left broken and defeated by the experience.
Anyway, it's the thought that counts, Mom and Dad. Thanks!
