Trip to the Orphanage

Yesterday CDI organized a Christmas trip to the local orphanage. It was a great experience. After putting down some chicken and pizza, we gathered some miniature trees and decorations and took them to the various dorm rooms. The girls in our room were very excited and turned on some Britney Spears Christmas music to boot (Brenda enjoyed this, but I think her cover of Wham's "Last Christmas" is vastly inferior to the original). We met the CUTEST little girl, who was extremely affectionate towards Brenda and me. She didn't seem to grasp that we didn't understand what she was saying, but she definitely enjoyed being lifted up to put the star on the tree. Brenda talked me out of attempting to smuggle her back to our apartment. Probably wouldn't have gotten her through customs anyway.

Then we played a soccer game. It was a bit chaotic as some of the kids didn't seem to understand the whole "teams" concept and just shot on whatever goal was near them. Oh well. It was still a good time. The ankle remains a bit sore but my touch hasn't gone completely to hell.

Saying good bye afterwards was of course sad, but all in all, I'm really glad we got up early to head over there and I'm looking forward to doing it again soon!
